The drama is about the assassination attempts on Emperor Jeong Jo's life during the 8 day period when he left the palace for a ceremony to honor his father who was killed by his grandfather.

A sent-down youth who returns home after living in a rural area must deal with the consecutive tragedies in her life and a new family that she has never met before. Set in the 1920s Republican era in China, the story tells how triad members Hui Man Keung and Ting Lik struggle to survive in Shanghai (then an international settlement), and their rise to prominence in the triad world later.
