In a final effort for the Toyotomi to take the country from the Tokugawa, Koga Ninja Sarutobi Sasuke regroups his Army of Darkness, along with some new members, to search for Marumasa, a cursed sword that the legends say gave Oda Nobunaga the power to take over the country generations ago.

The story takes place in the 1930s-40s era of Shanghai, the main focus is on Dave Wong's character “Hero/?” & Lawrence Ng’s character “Doctor/?”. Ada Choi plays a dance hall songstress. Dave Wong's 'Hero' was originally a rickshaw driver, who later became one of Shanghai's triad boss. William So plays a playboy character who has multiple romantic relationships with different women; starting off first as a thief, So eventually became a doctor after being 'healed' by Ng. Jackie Lui plays the role of a 1930s police officer.

In the year AD 2017 (nine years after the final episode of Ultraman Tiga), TPC has advanced beyond Earth, and has created a new GUTS team, "Super GUTS". Humans have begun terra-forming Mars and other planets in what is known as the "Age of the Neo Frontier". One day, however, the Neo Frontier is attacked by an alien race known as the Spheres. Shin Asuka has just joined Super GUTS and is in the middle of training maneuvers above Earth's atmosphere when he and his comrades are attacked. He proves himself in battle and can hold his own against ace pilot Ryoh. However, his ship is damaged, and he ejects, after which he encounters a shining light. It is then that a new giant of light merges with the bewildered Asuka, saving his life. When the Spheres enter Mars' atmosphere and merge with the Martian rocks to form monsters, Asuka again participates in the battle, now equipped with a mysterious device known as the "Reflasher". Upon the Sphere's new attack, Asuka suddenly transforms into a colossal giant and manages to protect Mars from a group of monsters sent by the Spheres. The members of Super GUTS quickly catch on that this giant being is not Ultraman Tiga, but a new giant of light, "Ultraman Dyna".

Due to her husband's work, Maiko moves with her husband to Tokyo from Hiroshima. They live in an apartment offered by her husband's company. Her husband is busy with work and comes home late every night. Maiko beings to talk with Futaba, who lives next door to her. Futaba is her husband's boss. They talk with each other from their porches. One day, Maiko learns that her husband is having an affair. She becomes closer to Futaba.
