Mayumi (Erich Gonzales) is a girl with a happy disposition in life who dreams of meeting her "the one" someday. She has been dreaming of meeting her "the one" and having the perfect wedding ever since she was a little girl. When she meets Lance (Enchong Dee), a Chinese descendant, in a wedding, she immediately knows that he is "the one" she is waiting for, her faith and destiny. The two of them become lovers despite the unwillingness of their families to their relationship. The unsupportiveness of Lance's family was shown during a birthday party, where Mayumi wore a blue dress while everyone else in the party wore red. (During celebrations, it is customary for the Chinese to wear red attires.) Lance's family talked about how she was very different in front of her in Chinese. They also tell Lance about how inappropriate his companion is.

The Fuccons began as a series of comic sketches on the Japanese TV program Vermillion Pleasure Night: A family of Americans, James and Barbara and their son Mikey, move to Japan "to live as Japanese." The brief skits consist of still photographs of window store dummies in Kennedy-era outfits juxtaposed with over-the-top vocal performances and lots of forced laughter. The humor is labored and inane; the dummies--obviously a Japanese take on Caucasians--recall the American cartoons of the 1930s that trafficked in ethnic stereotypes. Graduate students in sociology may someday write theses about what The Fuccons reveals about Japanese attitudes towards Americans; connoisseurs of outré cultural phenomena may revel in the series' we're-so-dumb-we're-hip charms. Episodes run the gamut from the silly to the surreal, sometimes ending with a joke and sometimes not. Episodes invariably end with the characters laughing hysterically, even if the episode ends on a serious note. Occasionally the series diverts from following the Fuccons and instead focuses on a destitute Japanese family, the Kawakitas.

Xiao-lun, who is struck dead by lightning, has lost memories of his life. While Xiao-lun is working as god of love, persons with red strings, with his partner Pinky to reincarnate as a human being, Xiao-lun runs into Xiaomi, who was his lover during his life, and recalls his past. Although Xiaomi cannot see him anymore, Xiao-lun couldn’t stop hovering around her, but at the same time he also realizes that he has to find someone else to bond her red string to protect her in an uncertain danger.
