The early days of the Tokugawa shogunate are brought to light in this exciting historical tale of broken vows and violent swordplay. In an ambush reminiscent of Miike’s 13 Assassins, although pre-dating that incident by 160 years, the heir to the shogun’s seat is brutally cut down by those who hope to install the emperor’s 5th son as military leader of the nation. A cast of big-name stars led by Matsukata Hiroki and Tanba Tetsuro bring their acting and action skills to the forefront. This made for television movie is directed by internationally renowned filmmaker Masuda Toshio (Tora! Tora! Tora!), whose record breaking box office success in Japan makes this a film that highlights a little known incident that helped change Japan’s future.

Former CID detective Kevin Cheng was forced to leave the police force due to suspicions that he was involved in an arson case. He joins a security company, where he meets Ruco Chan. As a former detective, Kevin has a reclusive character, but has a sharp eye that can catch tiny details from surveillance footage which are often the key to solving cases. Ruco's thinking and style of working is similar to Kevin's and is also excellent at his job. The two become good friends and are looked upon favourably by their superior Lau Kong. This is until private investigator Tavia Yeung appears. Conflict arises when she mistakes Kevin for an old friend. It causes him to recall a long-forgotten incident, which turns out to be related to the arson case. Tavia, known to possess a human "eye in the sky", continues to investigate along with Kevin and Ruco, but as they get closer to the truth, the conflict between emotions and the law grow more fierce and the relationship between the three of them experience a big change...

The story takes place in a sanatorium in the quiet mountainous area. The young psychologists Meng Lun (Liu Chang ornaments) and Mu Sifan (Lu Shan ornaments) came to this strange place as an intern, and began a period of intriguing bizarre stories. The mental patients in the sanatorium are so strange that they are each waiting for redemption in their complicated and spiritual world. And the doctors and nurses in white coats are also stunned by each other, hiding secrets of ulterior motives. This is not a simple sanatorium, it is full of mysterious things, and the gods and devils in the bottom of the heart are eager to move on the boundary between common sense and truth. And Meng Nor, who has supernatural power, is finally able to achieve his own mysterious purpose or fall into a terrible trap, which we cannot predict. The thick barriers of the spiritual world have cracked into gaps.

Hasegawa Hiroki will be playing Kindaichi Kousuke, the fictitious detective created by Showa era mystery novel author Yokomizo Seishi, in the upcoming NHK BS Premium drama SP "Gokumontou" (Hell's Gate Island) which will be shown on 19 November at 8pm....
