Hula Girl is a true story set in the 60s. Stricken by the recession due to the adoption of oil as a primary energy resource, the charcoal mine of Joban, in Iwaki city, decides to relay on tourism and to use the hot springs on its territory to create the 'Joban Hawaian Center', spa resort and theme park of Hawaian inspiration. To fulfill this project, the mine direction creates a hula dance troop, facing the incredulity and even the opposition of the majority of the population. Hula Girl tells the struggle of those young women who chose to enter the dance troop.

A young milktoast car rental company driver named Satoru Suzuki (Masanobu Ando) and a mousy nurse named Shizuko Sato (Hikari Ishida) are both in dire need of a confidence boost. Through a string of unbelievable events they meet and then fall into a wealth of yakuza money. They are chased by the monstrous yakuza as well as his stooge like young henchmen.

Four celebrity best friends venture 'farming' as they start a weekend farm in Inje. As time passes, they become steamed farmers who cry and laugh at their crops while experiencing the wonder and mystery of the 'land' every week. This is an authentic reality show with a comic touch about four men who are serious about their farming and even more serious about playing and eating.
