Hiroto Miyama is a poor lawyer who takes on criminal cases, but unable to make money. He pursues the truth for the 0.1% out of Japan's 99.9% conviction rate. One day, Hiroto is scouted by Haruhiko Madarame. Haruhiko Madarame is the head of Madarame Law Firm which is one of the biggest law firms among the 4 big law firms. Hiroto Miyama begins to work with Atsuhiro Sada. Atsuhiro Sada is a lawyer specializing in civil cases and makes lots of money for the law firm. He doesn't have any interest in criminal cases which can not make money.

Seoul, 1910. HONG Jin-ho, who will become Joseon's first detective, travels around solving trivial family disputes for pocket money as a private detective. However, he is determined to go to America someday and is saving up for the trip. Then one night, Gwang-soo, a medical physician in training, discovers a corpse in the woods and secretly takes it to practice dissecting. But the corpse turns out to be the son of Seoul's most powerful man. While planning to flee in the middle of the night and afraid of murder accusations, Gwang-soo meets Jin-ho, and asks him to find the killer. When another corpse turns up in the woods, murdered in the same way as the first victim, Jin-ho and Gwang-soo use a piece of cloth they find in the victim's hand as the lead they need to bring them one step closer to the real killer.

Set in the early-mid nineteen hundreds, Yim Ga Po is a small village in China, ruled by the Yim clan (mainly Yim Man Hei). The Sung clan also occupies the village, and they are essentially viewed by the Yim clan as lazy and useless – but because the Yim family was aided by the Sung family many generations ago, the Yim clan is bound by their ancestor's wishes to always live in peace with the Sung clan. Along the way it also revolves around the pitiful lives of women that live at Yim Ga Po, a place known for its purity. Women there have to remain pure and clean before as well as after marriage, and any wrong move may cost them their lives to the fire-cracking flames.
